Weight Watchers Food Points - Get The Scoop!

The Weight Watchers program has been helping people lose weight for almost 40 years now.

Their weight loss program involves a points system whereby every food has "points."

Upon joining the program you are given a daily allowance of points and thus you can determine how much of what foods you should eat.

I’ve put together a list of Weight Watchers food points.

Celebrity diets are the talk of the town day after day. They fill up our talk shows, our magazines and our websites. Celebrity weight loss is one of the most searched terms on the internet we all want the scoop on HOW THEY DO IT! Some celebs are open and honest about how they get that smoking hot bod whereas others mysteriously emerge at awards shows with trim, taut figures and a cheeky smile on their face! The South Beach Diet

The South Beach Diet incorporates three phases:

Phase 1 is the strictest part of the diet and lasts 2 weeks. In Phase 1 carbs are banned but you’re allowed high protein meats, low G.I veges, fat dairy products and nuts. Phase 2 is a bit less strict, introducing a few of the banned foods. Phase 3 is the maintenance phase intended to be used long term.

The Zone Diet

The Zone (apart from the cool name) is a popular weight loss diet that advocates that ‘diet’ need not be a dirty, scary word but in fact a way of life. Similar to the Atkins in the sense that they focus on low-fat protein, low G.I carbs and good fats. They also encourage half an hour of exercise a day - smart!

The Master Cleanse Diet

The Master Cleanse Diet should only be used as a detox or kick start diet and by no means is a healthy eating plan. However it has become popular as a detox and a quick way to lose a few pounds before an upcoming event etc.

Jenny Craig Diet

Jenny Craig is a household name when it comes to weight loss diets. The Jenny Craig diet incorporates a range of Jenny Craig cuisine from meals to snacks and even desserts. The meal plans are designed especially for you and can be very successful when it comes to weight loss especially since a Jenny Craig staff member has regular meetings with you to keep you on track.

Weight Watchers Diet

The Weight Watchers diet was voted Best Diet in 2007 by the Diet Channel. Using a points system (whereby x amount of points are allocated to each food type). A plan is designed for you allocating a recommended number of points daily so you can keep on top of your eating and lose weight fast. There are also group meetings each week to track your progress, share your experiences with people going through the same stuff as you and ask for advice.

The Weight Watcher’s Guide to Point System Weight Loss

With so many diets available, Weight Watchers is able to develop a system that supports their members and it goes by the name of Point System weight loss.

Most people find the Point System weight loss very effective in giving them support and encouragement during their difficult journey to lose weight, which contributed to more attention and support from the patrons of Weight Watchers.

Jean Nidetch founded Weight Watchers in the 60’s. The company started out as a discussion group on the best methods for losing weight.

Further developments led the company to offer different varieties of services and products for dieting to assist in weight loss and weight maintenance up to the present day.

Point system

It was also Weight Watchers who came up with the formula to aid their participants in their battle against weight gain and obesity.

The entire program is based on this system that was created by the company based on different factors including the fat content of food, the amount of food that is being served, the nutritional content of the food, its amount of carbohydrates, and more.

Their supporters believe that this system is what gave way to the success of . The participants of the Point System weight loss get a particular number of points everyday while they are creating their own diet that is based on the company’s calculator.

The numbers

The Point System weight loss works by assigning particular points on different types of foods. For example, a chocolate shake has 8.5 points while the Big Mac from McDonald’s has 14 points

The members are able to determine the number of points from each food from their calculator that is provided to them by Weight Watchers.

The formula

The new members of Weight Watchers are given the formula to assist them in calculating the points of the foods that they are going to eat.

To be able to determine the number of points on the food, you need to get the following data: the number of calories, the amount of fat (in grams), and the amount of dietary fiber (in grams).

The result of the equation is always an integer, and the fractional values are always rounded off to the closest point.

The use of nutritional labels

The best weight loss plan is still a combination of three things: a sensible diet, regular exercise, and optimism.

If you are too busy to plan out your meals or go to the gym without any coaching, though, then you may need to enrol in a weight loss clinic, or at least get some help in designing and tracking your fitness strategy.

Attend -diet- meetings

Members of Weight Watchers have to attend regular meetings, usually with weigh-ins. The diet plan restricts calories, but do not involve buying any pre-packaged food.

According to Consumer Search, is still the top choice of consumers (at least according to reviews) largely because this is flexible and can be personalized according to a particular fat loss goal.

It is also quite affordable and easy to follow.

Buy prepared diet food

Be careful about websites that try to lure you in with low fees, and then ask for extra payment later on.

Some websites are also filled with advertisements that can be very distracting, try out as many of them as you can (especially if there are free trial periods) before signing up.

What do WE think?

Support is great when you are trying to lose weight - its good if you’ve had a bad week or want someone to hear about how well you’ve done.

In that sense, meetings, forums and chat rooms are great. HOWEVER the main problem with all of this is that it focuses on two things dieting AND other people.

Dieting is NOT the solution. You won’t count calories for the rest of your life.

The people you talk to online when you’re feeling tempted won’t always be there to keep you on track.
