Revealing Interview With Valerie Waters - Part Two

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

As I was telling you yesterday we managed to get an interview with awesome celebrity trainer Valerie Waters who’s worked with the likes of Cindy Crawford, Jennifer Garner, Richard Gere and more.

If you didn’t see Part One of the interview with Valerie Waters click here to read it now.

Enjoy this candid interview with a trainer who’s clients are obvious proof of her talent and experience!

5. What foods do you think should be in everyone’s daily diet?

If you want to be lean you must eat your veggies! This is the cornerstone of every diet book and the number 1 rule of every fit body you see. Other great foods are Oatmeal, blueberries, wild salmon, grass fed beef, free range eggs, and quinoa to name a few.

6. What’s your favourite healthy food/meal?

I love breakfast! One of my favorites is an egg white omelette with lots of veggies. Sushi is my favorite for dinner. When I am being really good I order Sashimi and one roll without rice. And when I-m not being good, I eat the rice.

7. What’s your favorite naughty/cheat food?

Movie popcorn with peanut M&M-s mixed in.

8. What exercise should EVERYONE do?

Weight training is the single most important thing you should be doing. If you are worried about bulking up, then follow a circuit strength program like Red Carpet Ready. The program will ask you to do 3 full body strength workouts and 1-2 cardio sessions per week.

1-2 times per week of yoga is great. And cardio doesn-t have to be boring. Go hiking with a friend. Take up surfing or mountain biking. I have a couple of clients taking pole dancing and they love it. Working out takes some effort but it should be fun too!

9. What’s your favourite workout or exercise?

I love a really great strength circuit. I want to work hard, get sweaty and feel tired afterwards. There is nothing better than the buzz you get from a great workout!

I also love yoga. I don-t always want to go, but afterwards I-m glad I did. For recreation, I surf. I-m not very good but I have fun while burning a ton of calories.

Revealing Interview With Valerie Waters - Part One

Valerie WatersNo doubt you all will have read about Valerie on our site - we’re big fans! :) Already Valerie has a weekly tips section and this week she gave me a revealing look into her life as a personal trainer to the stars!

This will be a three part series (she gave us HEAPS of info and tips!) so make sure you tune in over the next week for this awesome information.

Read on to get Part One of our exciting interview with Celebrity Trainer Valerie Waters :)

Valerie Waters is a personal trainer to some of the biggest names in Hollywood and has been for over a decade. Her client list over her time as personal trainer looks like the invite list to an Oscars after party including Cindy Crawford, Jennifer Garner, Rachel Nichols, Jim Carrey, Poppy Montgomery, Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Biel, Richard Gere and Lauren Holly.

Valerie’s developed a program called Red Carpet Ready through her work with celebrities. Ready Carpet Ready is a 6 week full body transformation incorporating a healthy diet and an easy to use exercise program.

1. How long have you been working a personal trainer?

I have been a personal trainer for 18 years and I still love it!

2. What do you love most about the industry?

I love turning people on to fitness and watching how their self esteem and confidence increases as they become more fit. I love learning about new fun ways to get and stay fit and then sharing it with my clients. This is actually a very exciting to be in this business. The industry has really grown in the last 5-6 years and continues to evolve.

3. What do you love most about working with celebrities specifically?

I love training all kinds of people but celebrities are particularly fun for a couple of reasons.

1. Usually when I get a call from a celebrity, it is because of an upcoming movie role, photo shoot or red carpet event they-re getting ready for. This makes them very motivated. Anytime you have a highly motivated client, you are more likely to see results quickly. Then of course, other people notice how great they look and you have a walking "buildboard."

2. Part of what all clients do with their trainers is share personal stories. When your client is a celebrity the stories are usually pretty entertaining. Such as -when I was at the Oscars-

VALERIE’S TIP #2

You don-t have to be in the mood for exercise!

Even fit people aren-t always in the mood for their workouts. I have been exercising regularly since I was 14 years-old. And I am in the gym all day with clients.

I can assure you-I am not always in the mood, but I know I will feel better when I-m done.

My motto, -You are just one workout away from a good mood- has served me well.

Sometimes it-s just a matter of getting started; fire up the nervous system; juice the joints; get your heart pumping.

After about 10-15 minutes you-ve started to feel lighter. And dare I say happier?

It is on these days that exercise can serve one of its most important functions - changing states.

VALERIE’S TIP #1

Nutrition accounts for 80% of weight loss results. Regardless of what you do in the gym your body will only transform into red carpet worthy if you fuel your body the right way.

One of my main tips with regards to nutrition is to always pre-prepare your food.

I always say if you leave nutrition to chance it WON’T happen. . .

* Grill some extra chicken at dinner for lunch the next day.

* Have a container of pre chopped veges in your fridge so you can just grab them and go

* Marinate some chicken while you dry your hair in the morning

What you may or may not know is that the right food choices can not only help you lose weight, but they can also give you more energy, boost your immune system, improve your mood and sense of well being, improve your brain function and ability to think, improve your skin and help you sleep better.

Here are my basic rules for nutrition:

1. Eat 5-6 times a day: 3 meals and 2-3 snacks
2. Eat protein at each and every meal
3. Avoid processed foods and fast foods
4. Get your daily Fiber
5. Watch your portions
6. Plan and pre-prepare your food
7. Drink 80 -” 100 ounces of water per day (2 large water bottles)
8. Limit alcohol to no more than 2 drinks per week

Incorporate these basic rules into your daily eating and you will set for some serious weight loss results. Get ready for your very own celebrity body!

Day 5 of the Red Carpet Ready Program and I Have Some News!!!!!!

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

Hi Guys

As you all know I’m doing the Red Carpet Ready program at the moment.

I’m doing it both to tone up my body because I’m going on holiday in May AND to test it out for all our readers :)

I’m only on Day 5 and already I’ve got some exciting results.

So far I am really enjoying the program and I can honestly say I have not cheated once AND I have exercised every day!

Wanna know why? Because it is EASY!

I just wake up, look at the list of foods I can pick from and go for it. I am honestly enjoying the workouts because it is quick and completely planned for you.

Here’s the stuff I’ve found so far:

* I’ve had HEAPS more energy just because I’m eating the right foods to fuel my body. I’ve literally worked 10 to 12 hours a day everyday this week because I just wasn’t tired.

* I haven’t felt the need to eat something naughty because you so regularly you don’t get hungry.

* I’m feeling tighter around my tummy and backside after doing just 2 strength workouts so far!

Annnnnnnnnd last but not least - I’VE LOST 1 KILO ALREADY!!

Yep after just 5 days I’ve lost a kilo! Yaaaaaaaaaaaay!

Oh for the American’s thats about 2.2 pounds. . .

Anyway so thats my news. I’ll keep you posted on my results.

Weight Loss Secrets Straight From A Celebrity Trainer

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

Hi All :)

After researching HEAPS of stars for our awesome new celebrity weight loss sections I noticed heaps of our favourite celebrities are being trained by a lady called Valerie Waters.

My curiousity was aroused and so I went straight to Google it to see exactly WHO this Valerie Waters was! Read on to see what I found out.

Ok so I googled her, checked out her site and found out she is HUGE in Hollywood. Not only has she been a personal trainer for a star studded line up but shes also been in charge of getting entire CASTS into shape for movies! Anyone jealous??

Heres a MINI name drop of just some of the clients Valerie Waters has worked with:

Cindy Crawford
Jennifer Garner
Kate Beckinsale
Jennifer Lopez
Jim Carrey
Richard Gere
Charlize Theron
Poppy Montgomery

Are you impressed? Well I AM!!!!! :) I also have to add that Valerie has worked with some of these celebrities for YEARS and over multiple films.

Anyway so I noticed Valerie had released an ebook called Red Carpet Ready. It was a 6 week program that promised to get you a red carpet worthy body through a healthy diet, cardio and strength training.

I decided to buy Valerie’s book as I was curious and wanted to see what all the talk was about. I downloaded the ebook and got straight into it. . .

So what did I think of Red Carpet Ready?

I was amazed! Truly and completely blown away by how Valerie had put together all the information you need to lose some serious weight.

I have read HEAPS of fitness and weight loss books in my time here at UWLS and even before and I can honestly say I have never been more impressed and inspired by a book.

In fact I have to admit I started the 6 week program on Monday and am logging the results to show you all at the end of the 6 weeks (I’ll keep you posted).

Anyway back to the book . . .

Valerie kicks it off with a bit of background on her life, how she got into the fitness industry and the day that kicked off her celeb training career - the day she got the phone call to train Cindy Crawford (what a day huh!)

Next Valerie talks about her beliefs with regards to training, dieting and her general approach to healthy living. Her whole belief system is refreshing!

The book then moves into ’setting the stage.’ Valerie gives you great advice about preparing your physical environment as well as your emotional environment. She gives great goal setting tips as well as several crucial steps to take before kicking off the 6 week program.

Valerie then hits you with some AWESOME nutriton information. It’s not long winded or scientific just the facts (I loved that part). She gives honest advice on what to eat, when to eat and just generally how to be fuel your body in the best possible way.

Rather than giving you a strict meal plan Valerie gives you a huge list of good foods and you can pick and choose as you please. This gives you so much more flexibility and helps you stick to it.

** Can I just add now that in the 5 days I’ve been on the program I’ve lost 1 KG!

Finally you’ll move onto the exercise phase. Valerie makes it incredibly easy.

She literally gives you step by step pictures of how to do every exercise she recommends PLUS they can all be done in your lounge room (just push the coffee table out of the way).

Her program recommends a mix of cardio and strength training. I already feel tighter after just 3 workouts!

The last section gives you heaps of extra tools like measurement charts, goal setting sheets and even a full 6 week calendar that’s pre filled for you!

I’ve chatted to Valerie about her book and she’s told me how pleased she is to finally be releasing the book she’s worked so hard on.

The Red Carpet Ready book has been tested on heaps of her celebrity clients to prove it works (they’re bodies speak for themselves). Valerie told me personally that the book is LITERALLY the program she uses on most of her celeb clients.

She’s tweaked it heaps to make sure it was totally perfect before making it available for all of us. Now all of us can get on her celebrity weight loss secrets.

So to recap in the Red Carpet Ready book you will get:

* Information about Valerie, her clients, her experience, her beliefs
* Food and Equipment shopping lists
* Easy to follow workout plans including photos (all of which you can do at home)
* The diet tips and eating plans she gives all her celebrity clients including Cindy Crawford and Jennifer Garner
* Goal setting exercises
* Measurement and tracking charts
* A pre-prepared calendar so that you have your 6 week celebrity weight loss laid out for you

I have absolutely no qualms in personally recommending this book to all of our UWLS readers. Valerie’s done all the work for you all you have to do is read and get stuck in.

Rating: ★★★★★

Whether you’ve got a red carpet event coming up or just want to make a change to your life this book is perfect for you.
